Editor-in-Chief Scott Blair headed to the Los Angeles area when the wildfire that destroyed much of Altadena, Calif., was about 60% contained and damage assessment and recovery had begun.
He met up with L.A. County Public Works Director Mark Pestrella, who discussed how crews have begun removing toxins, cleaning up damage and replacing basic utilities in fire-damaged areas.
No stranger to disaster areas, Blair has reported and made videos following the 2017 Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa, Calif., and the Camp Fire that destroyed nearby Paradise in 2018. He also previously reported on damage from Hurricane Harvey in Houston and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
