Members of the Associated General Contractors of America’s Utah chapter marked what they say was a successful 2024. The group installed new leadership and heard from experts on topics ranging from artificial intelligence applications to improving workforce mental health at their 103rd annual convention held Jan. 23-24 in Salt Lake City. Company leaders reported record 2024 revenue with strong backlogs of work ahead.
Optimism about the state construction market was high, with many firms anticipating preparations for the return of the Winter Olympic Games to Salt Lake City in 2034. Other large projects on the horizon include the redevelopment of 600 acres at the former state prison site known as The Point as well as continued expansions at higher education campuses and local resorts such as Deer Valley.
CEO Joey Gilbert said the association is continuing efforts to develop more skilled workers and had a productive meeting with Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and the state legislative leadership prior to the start of its 2025 session.
