Arizona’s Omer says, "I think, as a state DOT, we would all say the same thing: We want the longest-term bill possible. We want the greatest flexibility possible." He adds, "Of course, everyone wants more money."
Michigan’s Steudle says, "Clearly the best thing for us is a longer-term bill and more stability, but at this point, we want a bill.” His agency recently wrote to congressional leaders to urge them to keep moving to pass their respective measures so a House-Senate conference can be formed to work out the differences.
Oklahoma’s Ridley agrees. “What we need is for both houses to pass legislation and get it to conference,” he says. “We think that they can come to a compromise in conference, and that’s where it needs to get to.”
