Douglas Dunkelberger has joined consulting firm Terracon as a principal, based in West Palm Beach, Fla., the firm tells ENR. The new position follows Terracon's June 13 acquisition of West Palm Beach-based Dunkelberger Engineering and Testing Inc., of which he was founder and CEO. About 60 Dunkelberger employees have joined Terracon. Dunkelberger, which provides geotechnical engineering, environmental assessments and building inspection services, will currently retain its name as a Terracon unit. Terracon ranks at No. 38 on ENR's Top 500 Design Firms list.

The Construction Industry Round Table has elected as its national chairman Steven T. Halverson, president and CEO of design-build firm Haskell, Jacksonville, Fla. He will lead the Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group of 110 design and construction firm CEOs for one year.

 

Weaver
Douglas Weaver has joined Westinghouse Electric Co. as vice president of nuclear regulatory affairs. He will maintain the firm's links with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulators. Most recently, he was vice president of licensing and regulatory affairs for energy-technology firm Holtec International. Weaver also had been deputy director of the NRC's spent-fuel storage and transportation division, a position he held from 2009 to 2012. He also held other executive roles at NRC since 2003. Weaver is based in Rockville, Md.

Gallagher Construction Services, a division of insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., has hired Soyoung Lee as senior vice president of its national construction division. Based in San Francisco, she had been vice president of insurer Zurich North America, responsible for the firm's large-construction accounts and environmental construction practice group.

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association, Alexandria, Va., has named Michael W. Johnson as president and CEO, effective Aug. 1. He succeeds R.A. "Gus" Edwards III, who will retire. Johnson is executive vice president of the National Beer Wholesalers Association. NSSGA represents firms that annually produce more than 90% of crushed stone and 70% of sand and gravel in the U.S., the group says.

Lisa Gould has rejoined architect Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP as a director and co-leader of its education, science and health practice. Formerly an independent practitioner, she also had directed health and science design at SOM.

Robert Ryan has joined consulting firm TranSystems as senior vice president and leader of its national passenger-rail and transit practice areas. Based in Chicago, he had been vice president and transit practice business development director at engineer H.W. Lochner.

Engineer Arup has elevated these New York City-based transportation and building design managers to principal: Jon Hurt, Trent Lethco, Hillary Lobo, Tateo Nakajima and Brian Stacy. The firm ranks at No. 55 on ENR's list of the Top 500 Design Firms, with $245 million in 2012 revenue.

William E. Stilson has joined engineer GPD Group as director of public works in Columbus, Ohio, the firm tells ENR. The role follows the Akron firm's June 3 purchase of Columbus-based W.E. Stilson Consulting Group, of which he was founder-owner. About 18 employees join GPD, which now has a 460-person workforce.

Vandergriff
Engineer RS&H has hired John Vandergriff as head of its Virginia transportation and infrastructure program, based in Glen Allen, Va. Vandergriff was engineering manager at The Louis Berger Group Inc. and a senior transportation engineer at the Virginia Dept. of Transportation. He also served as transportation committee chairman for the American Council of Engineering Companies' Virginia section.

Shawn Barham has joined Summit Industrial Construction LLC, Alpharetta, Ga., as senior vice president and general manager. He previously held business development and operations management roles at KBR and Kiewit Power, says Summit, an open-shop firm founded in 1996.

 

Delcan Corp., a Markham, Ontario, transportation design firm, has elevated to senior principal Michael Florendo in Calgary, Alberta, and Yousef Kimiagar and Malcolm MacKay in Toronto. Named vice president in Ottawa is Sylvain Montminy. New principals are Mark Conrad, Susan Cox, Sameh Salib and Steven Sokalsky in Markham; Paul Croft and Richard Telmosse in Ottawa; Patrick Cruickshank in Burnaby, B.C.; Ranjit Gopal in Schaumburg, Ill., and Ran Tamim in Tel Aviv. Delcan is ranked No. 137 on ENR's Top 200 International Design Firms list.
