GM Pickups for 2014 Get New Looks, Engines

Practical Upgrades
When asked what will make the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 appealing to commercial buyers, Wilkinson highlighted larger rear axles on V-8 models; a newly available V-6-equipped, four-wheel-drive crew cab model; an updated, fully boxed frame; durable cloth upholstery; and plenty of interior storage—including double glove boxes, large door bins and a center console that doubles as a file folder.
Reflecting the increasing need to stay virtually connected to the jobsite, office or dispatch, the 2014 pickups answer the call with voice-activated telematics systems featuring an 8-in. touchscreen and Bluetooth hands-free calling.
Contractors and other commercial truck shoppers may appreciate a new corner step molded into the rear bumper and bedrail-integrated handhold that allow for easier access to cargo.
Drop the new torsion bar-assisted tailgate, and you'll find adjustable tie downs and bright LED bed lights—a nice addition in low-light situations. Crew cab models are now more useful and practical for worksite duty thanks to a longer, optional 6.5-ft bed.
