Product Snapshot: Dust Extraction and Solar-Powered Light Tower

The Solar-Powered Light Tower has a 1.8-kW generator able to recharge a built-in battery with 800 amp-hours of charge. It has four 160-watt LEDs on a 30-ft telescoping mast, which can be collapsed for transport. A motion sensor on the lights is standard.

The Grove RT540 is a 40-ton rough-terrain crane. Compared to earlier models, it sports an upgraded cab and an improved swing system. The crane has Manitowoc's new crane control system, which standardizes the operator interface across all Manitowoc's crane lines. New electronic controls reduce the lag time between joystick movement and slewing. Joystick movement also is linked to the engine's RPM, for finer control at lower engine speeds.

Makita has updated its dust-extraction system for demolition and rotary hammers. The new dust-extraction attachment now comes in a six-piece kit that can fit most standard SDS-Max rotary and demolition hammers. Once the dust cover and hose are attached to the shaft of the bit, clips allow for the hose to be attached to the hammer's handle, to keep it out of the way. The dust-extraction attachment comes with an assortment of hose clips for different hammers. A jobsite vacuum is not included.

Bosch has added three angle grinders to its compact tool line. The PWS1000-125 and PWS1000-125CE each feature 1,000-watt motors. The more powerful PWS1300-125CE has a 1,300-watt motor and an extended handle. The CE stands for constant electronic, a feature that ensures the tool delivers full power even when under load. A standard dust-protection system shields the grinders' bearings from dust and debris.
