The design and construction team on the $350-million Atlantic Park development in Virginia Beach is making waves as it heads toward completion of the 10.2-acre project this year.
As the first ground-up facility built specifically for a WNBA franchise, this $64-million project represents an unprecedented investment in elite women athletes.
Located on Yas Island, the five-floor marine theme park is dedicated to environmental preservation. It features a One Ocean realm, with six distinct but interconnected areas showcasing different ecosystems, as well as the world’s largest multispecies marine life aquarium, which holds 68,000 animals from 1,800 different species.
This Indian project’s conceptual design was provided by designers from the University of Tokyo, continuing a history of collaboration between the institute and Japanese universities, says the project submission.
Funded by a public-private partnership, this $98.5-million events center was built under a compressed schedule and delivered on time and within budget in August 2023.
An extensive 12-acre revitalization and expansion project included the renovation of the zoo’s iconic Pachyderm Building and the addition of a giraffe house, carnivore building and flamingo barn.
