An independent review raised concerns the bridge could collapse under certain load conditions, Texas Dept. of Transportation officials say.

Transportation agency says joint venture still has not completed the C-470 project, which had an original deadline in 2019. 

Work was suspended on the project's cable-stayed portion based on unspecified safety concerns over the planned installation of some bridge structure elements.

The joint venture will complete engineering work on the new $930-million U.S. Route 181/Harbor Bridge in Texas, taking over from original engineer-of-record FIGG.
