New York City-area transportation projects will gain 26% increase in federal funding under Metropolitan Transportation Council's five-year plan.

Among the 90 winners are highway, bridge, rail, port and several pedestrian-related projects.

The money will reimburse CDOT for most of the $17.6 million in emergency repairs to the highway.

Interplay between appropriations and bipartisan infrastructure framework is yet to be determined.

The 24 winners were chosen from among 157 eligible proposals.

Meanwhile, Biden is "encouraged" by bipartisan Senate group's broader infrastructure proposal.

Committee Chair Maria Cantwell said passenger and freight rail would get the largest funding share, a $36-billion allocation.
