The annual Year in Construction Photo Contest issue marks new beginnings at ENR—it’s traditionally the first print edition as we turn the calendar page. But it also gives editors a chance to offer readers a lookback at the incredible feats the industry has accomplished in the past 12 months.
With this year’s 40 photo contest winners appearing here and throughout the magazine, ENR senior art director Scott Hilling curated the images to take the reader through a visual narration of the ups and downs many in the industry experienced in 2021.
The ENR community came out in droves to participate in the annual Year in Construction Photo Contest: as photographers and submitters, and even helping to select the gatefold cover.
Despite a tumultuous year that made traveling to jobsites difficult at best, ENR readers still came through—and then some—by submitting more than 900 entries to our annual photo contest.
