Madison started the first African-American-owned architecture firm in Ohio and only the 10th in the U.S., served in the 92nd infantry during World War II and fought in Italy, studied under Gropius and Le Corbusier and designed some of the most iconic buildings in Cleveland as well as major projects in places as far away as Senegal.
