AstraZeneca is planning to establish a cell therapies plant in Rockville. The project scope includes fitout of an 84,000-sq-ft building with cleanroom space, and purchase and installation of stainless steel piping, freezers, fume hoods, bioreactor instrumentation, air handling, sterilization and packaging equipment. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026. AstraZeneca will use the plant to produce T-cell therapies for clinical trials. The estimated EPC cost is $300 million.
