The private operator of the Canada Line in Vancouver is using a digital twin of the 19-km-long, 16-station, 12-year-old transit system for predictive maintenance and infrastructure planning.

Privately financed, $670-million 10-mile project is set to partially open this month that extends lanes' terminus in Stafford County to just north of Fredericksburg, nearly two years after contractor settled dispute with developer and state that added $100 million to its contract.

Floodwater diverted from Beijing has caused major damage in the Hai River basin, but no official damage cost or detail has yet been released as China’s government said it has allocated $124 million for immediate post-disaster relief and reconstruction.

The project involves modernizing the seven-level, 350,000-sq-ft facility which was last updated in the 1980s.

The high-speed rail project backers have applied for a $3.7B in federal funds to underwrite the effort. 

State officials awarded a second contract for the project, though some planned phases of construction remain temporarily barred under a court order.

The measures come as the Panama Canal officials are working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to develop a long-term water conservation plan for the waterway.

A series of weekend closures moves the $160 million-project closer to its halfway mark.
