The city of Austin, ENR Texas & Louisiana’s Owner of the Year, is on a roll. But keeping pace with pressing demands is far from easy.

Regional construction activity continues at a robust pace, with 2023 project starts dominated by the power delivery and residential sectors.

Texas middle-school students Zara Willard and Nicholas John received hands-on building experience and inspiration to pursue engineering and construction careers at TRF Camp Build in Austin last summer.

Students learned firsthand the skills needed for careers in construction and engineering at a Rosendin-sponsored TRF Camp Build in Austin, Texas this past summer, with others across the U.S. providing similar support.

Construction is not expected until 2027, at the earliest.

“Sustainability is at the forefront of Austin’s engineering and construction practices,” Roohms says. “The industry has also been adopting digital plan delivery, which leverages shared technology among the entire project team to enhance visualization and eliminate silos.” 

“The current buzz in the construction community is the surge of large industrial projects announced this year,” says McCaskill.
