On April 5, construction workers will begin the next phase of repair on the four-lane bridge that carries I-80 across the Mississippi River between LeClaire, Iowa, and the Moline area in western Illinois. New figures from the Missouri Dept. of Transportation (MoDOT) show that 86% of the state’s busiest roads are now in good condition. MoDOT says road conditions in the Show Me State have improved steadily since 2004, when only 47% of its highways were good. That year, Missouri voters approved Amendment 3, which redirected revenue to roads and bridges. Construction of the new $135-million Beavercreek Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, is under way. Designed by architect HOK’s Chicago healthcare group, the 275,000-sq-ft, 113-bed greenfield hospital will sit on 22 acres in the Dayton suburb of Beavercreek. Part of Kettering Health Network, it will employ 200 people and offer emergency care, general surgery, interventional medicine, a birthing center, critical care, medical imaging, and cardiovascular diagnostic services.
