In this newly created position, Frank is responsible for the firm's products in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America. He was, most recently, a consultant to the firm's parent, SANY Group Co. Ltd., based in China. FRIESAlexis Fries has joined global engineer Pöyry PLC, Vantaa, Finland, as president and CEO. He was CEO of EOS Holding SA, an energy company in Lausanne, Switzerland. In his new role, Fries succeeds Heikki Malinen, who stepped down in June. Chairman Henrik Ehrnrooth had been serving as interim president and CEO. Pöyry ranks at No. 34 on ENR's list of the Top 150 Global Design Firms, with $1.1 billion in 2011 engineering revenue. Fries has been a Pöyry board member since 2008. HICKOXGlobal engineer CDM Smith, Cambridge, Mass., has elevated Stephen J. Hickox to CEO, effective on Jan. 1, when he succeeds Richard D. Fox in the role. Fox remains chairman until a planned retirement in April. Hickox now is president of the firm's public-services group for North America East and Latin America. Executive Vice President Timothy B. Wall also was named COO, effective on Oct. 1. He had been president of the firm's federal-services group.
