China announced last week at the United Nation’s 75th General Assembly and first virtual General Debate thatit will scale up its climate commitment with the aim of peaking carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060. The meeting coincided with the virtual Climate Week NYC 2020.
Two projects have been awarded $215 million in an effort that will restore more than 4,600 acres of wetlands, coastal, and nearshore habitats in Louisiana.
The funding, which FHWA announced on Sept. 29, covers disasters dating as far back as the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, and as recent as a bush fire in Arizona in June 20. The federal funds reimburse states and other agencies.
