Design firms in the Mountain States are feeling optimistic about the project opportunities forecast for the coming months, but they also are wary about what the future may bring given threats of rising interest rates that could cause market instability.

ENR Mountain States is putting the finishing touches on its annual top design firms lists, which will be published in the May/June issue of the magazine. 

Construction firms in the mountain states are plenty busy. A surge of people moving to the region—especially Colorado, Utah and Idaho—has created a “solid funnel of multifamily housing projects,” says Jeff Palmer, executive vice president at Layton Construction.

Located on a 2,000-acre mountain site that previously had no utilities or services, this retreat for leaders in the educational community includes 20 buildings totaling 60,000 sq ft.

ENR Mountain States has chosen its annual Owners of the Year, two entities whose leadership and projects have transformed their communities.

The final list, ranked by dollar volume of construction cost, will appear in the April issue of the magazine.
