The 2020 ENR MidAtlantic Specialty Contractor of the Year, as selected by ENR’s editors, is Philadelphia D&M.
The firm will be recognized at ENR MidAtlantic’s Oct. 19 virtual Best Project's event and featured in the December issue of ENR MidAtlantic.
The December issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2019 revenue. Philadelphia D&M ranked No. 11 on last year's survey with $90.35 million regional revenue.
The Philadelphia-area interior finish contractor celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. They’ve performed almost $1.2 billion in revenue since 1999, all out of a single office. The firm with approximately 450 employees is one of the only contractors in the Philadelphia area with a prefabrication facility. At the end of this month, PDM will move into its new 170,000 sq ft prefabrication facility. They have also trademarked their bathroom pod manufacturing under the name Durapods and they are currently submitting on projects throughout the MidAtlantic region to fabricate and install bathroom PODs.
PDM also recently started a firestop division to provide penetration firestopping for other trades. The firm has also recently converted two IPD projects where firestopping was going to be done by individual trades to single source firestopping.
In 2019, the PDM also completed a Ronald McDonald House project. The firm sponsored a guest room in the new Chestnut Street House and performed the drywall and carpentry as well as the load bearing wall package. PDM is also active in a joint work force development program between the General Buildings Contractor Association and the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters called CARP (Carpenter Apprentice Readiness Program). The video highlights the firm’s involvement.
