The results are in! Each year, ENR regional editors from around the country vote on regional Top Specialty Contractors. This year, editors chose W.A. Rasic as ENR California & Northwest’s, the region of which includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington, 2021 Specialty Contractor of the Year thanks to is 56% spike in revenue on projects that touch some of the West Coast’s most pressing issues.
Founded in 1978 and based in Long Beach, Calif., W.A. Rasic is one of the largest privately owned utility contractors in the Western U.S. The contractor, with over 500 employees, works on about 1,000 projects yearly and specializes in self-performing underground power, communication, natural gas, petroleum, water, sewer, storm drain, microtunneling and cast-in-place concrete related construction projects.
In 2020, W.A. Rasic completed its first self-performed slurry microtunnel project for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. The $48 million contract included four separate drives totaling 4,200 LF of an 84” diameter tunnel for a 60” welded steel water transmission main.
Also in 2020, W.A. Rasic broke gound on the LADWP’s IB 102 – Services for Construction of Electrical Conduits and Substructures, a 5-year project totaling $146 million that will install underground power conduit and substructures in the greater Los Angeles area.
