There’s a new brand on the cover of Engineering News-Record—BNP Media. The fourth-generation, family-run company acquired ENR along with Architectural Record and SNAP from Dodge Data & Analytics on July 1.
In a June 12 press release announcing the acquisition, BNP’s three co-CEOs Harper, Mitchell and Taggart Henderson said the publications “have a magnificent reputation, unparalleled reach, and limitless opportunity. And, they complement perfectly BNP’s strong presence” in construction, engineering and architecture.
Taggart Henderson welcomed the “iconic ENR name” to BNP, saying the ENR team “has done a fantastic job leading the brand. BNP Media will look to build on that and continue to provide the decision-makers who read ENR with the superior content they need to succeed, when, how, and where they want it.”
Henderson added that BNP is “looking forward to opening our offices in New York City and should have some exciting news on that front in the near future.” Based in Troy, Michigan, the company publishes 90 brands in seven market sectors with regional offices around the country. Two of the large market sectors are AEC and mechanical systems. That sector includes The News, a weekly magazine for HVAC and refrigeration contractors, engineers and suppliers, founded in 1926 along with the com- pany. ENR and AR have become the two largest publications at BNP.
John Schrei, BNP group publisher, explains that the company initials come from its original name, Business News Publishing. “You can count on us for three things: editorial integrity, passion for all of our brands, and innovation in our ideas and in our products,” he adds.
At BNP, ENR finds a home with like-minded business-to-business media pro- fessionals. BNP’s mission resonates with ENR’s goal of helping construction professionals do their jobs more effectively and our long-term multiplatform strategy to deliver content on-line, in print and at live events. We look forward to tapping BNP’s expertise in managing those events as well as in market research, digital products, social media and other areas.
