A diverse trio of challenging and impressively delivered projects have passed multiple rounds of judging to emerge as Project of the Year finalists in ENR’s 2023 Best of the Best competition.
Last month, the 20 project category winners were recognized from more than 800 entries submitted in 12 regional competitions and reviewed by multiple industry judging panels. From those selected, further review produced a handful of projects considered candidates for top recognition.
ENR editors then revewed this project shortlist, assessing performance in meeting criteria of design and construction innovation and quality, safety and community impact—and after considerable discussion and debate—selected the following as finalists for the top award.
In alphabetical order, they are:
Kings Bay Dry Dock Recapitalization, located in St. Marys, Ga. and originally submitted by Alberici-Mortenson, A Joint Venture to ENR Southeast
Microsoft Thermal Energy Center, located in Redmond, Wash and originally submitted by GLY Construction to ENR Northwest
National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), located in Manhattan, Kan and originally submitted by McCarthy Mortenson Joint Venture to ENR Midwest
The finalists—as well as all category-winning projects and recognition of numerous industry members who were Best Of The Best judges—will be featured in detail in the March 11 print issue of ENR, with the Project of the Year to be revealed on its cover.
