After last week's ruling by a federal courty holding the U.S. Army Corps responsible for the tragic events of Hurricane Katrina, the Corps seems to be exercising extreme caution as it partners in a massive public works undertaking in Dallas along the Trinity River.

Nearly half the funds needed for a restoration project at the Texas Governor's Mansion in Austin--badly burned last summer in an act of arson--will come from federal stimulus money.
Most of you in the highway construction and engineering business have been following the massive sunset bill that TxDOT needs to stay afloat. Included in the plan--approved by the Texas House of Representatives-- is a provision that would revamp the Texas Transportation Commission.
