The Tennessee Valley Authority has had a busy year.
The federal utility advanced to the final phase of its $1-billion lock replacement project at Chickamauga Dam near Chattanooga, Tenn., began procurement for a $2.2-billion gas-fired power plant to replace a coal-fired plant—and recently partnered with a fusion energy startup to boost efforts to commercialize fusion power in its service area.
Those efforts, and more, including partnering with communities to promote STEM education programs and contributing to outreach organizations like food pantries across the Southeast, have led ENR's editors to select TVA as ENR Southeast Owner of the Year.
The utility will be profiled in the April 14 edition of ENR Texas & Southeast, the newly formed region that combines the former separate ENR Southeast and ENR Texas & Louisiana regional magazines.
