This year’s Top General Contractor’s ranking in Southwest Contractor posted some dismal numbers, with the Top 100 dropping almost 28% from the previous year. Among the market sectors that we’ve tracked for five years or more, the only bright spot in year-over-year revenue was sewage/waste, which saw a modest 2% gain from the previous year. The hardest hit sector was site/master-planned development, which saw 78% of work obliterated compared to the previous year. The only silver lining is that when compared to totals from five years ago (2005), some sectors could boast gains. Transportation, which lost 2% of revenue over the previous year, was up over 66% compared to 2005. And overall, the Top 100 was up 23% over the 2005 ranking.
