Ace Electric Inc. had quite the year in 2023. Growing revenues, winning its largest-ever job, increasing its workforce by more than 20% and providing those employees with innovative internal resources to further their careers and stay safe on the job have not only positioned the firm for success, they’ve earned it the title of ENR Southeast’s 2024 Specialty Contractor of the Year.

The 50-year-old firm, based in Valdosta, Georgia, reported more than $172 million in 2023 revenues, an almost 8% year-over-year increase on the heels of an almost 30% increase in revenue the year before, based on data from ENR Southeast’s Top Specialty Contractors ranking. Family owned and operated, Ace Electric secured its largest contract in the company’s history in 2023 as well.

Internally, Ace made big moves as well, hiring enough new employees to constitute a 21% increase in workforce and by establishing Ace University, a workforce development program to orient new employees and outfit existing ones with the skills needed to further their careers in the industry.

The company also implemented a safety orientation for field workers as part of Ace University, increasing its safety department staff and adding multiple job site safety professionals and regional safety supervisors. Ace’s safety efforts have paid off too, earning it the Amerson Supervisor Safety award from Associated General Contractors of Georgia, awarded to the firm’s Atlanta, Macon and Statesboro, Georgia offices as well as its Ace Engineering and Fabrication Division.

ENR Southeast will take a close look at Ace’s 2023 in its Sept. 2 edition, along with the full Top Specialty Contractors ranking – which is accepting submissions through Aug. 5
