Burn & McDonnell has been selected as ENR Northwest's Contractor of the Year for 2023.
Last year, the firm's Pacific Northwest division recorded a 160% jump in regional revenue, capping a dramatic expansion effort in the region. Burns & McDonnell launched its first Northwest office in 2011, and over the past five years has opened two additional offices and expanded a third.
The company has leaned heavily on progressive design-build or open book EPC delivery methods since it allows clients to order long-lead equipment early and minimize cost and schedule risks on large capital projects. By developing strong relationships with key clients, the company has developed a substantial backlog of work, helping boost its bottom line.
One example is Bonneville Power Administration for whom Burns & McDonnell has handled several projects including a substation and interconnect in Maupin, Oregon; a substation and equipment upgrades for the Tri-Cities, Washington area as well as a site expansion and new equipment installation at the Jones Canyon Reactor in Gilliam County, Oregon.
Other clients include PacifiCorp, Portland General Electric and Port of Portland.
