"Project opportunities continue to be very active in the Bay Area, particularly in the multifamily and office markets," says Johnson. "However, construction costs also continue to rise. Upcoming projects demand even closer analysis to examine whether the rise in rent prices is keeping up with the cost of construction."
Because construction material and labor availability will continue to tighten over the next 18 months, contractors are turning to prefabrication to alleviate material and labor shortages, Johnson adds.
