Joe Benvenuto spent four years perfecting the “top-down” superstructure construction technology of LIFTbuild before work began in 2022 on Exchange, a 207-ft-tall residential mid-rise in Detroit.
As the first residential development in Detroit’s Greektown neighborhood in more than 60 years, the 207-ft tall, 16-story building features 153 apartments and 12 condominium units.
This 355,000-sq-ft, six-story greenfield hospital provides 129 private inpatient beds, a labor and delivery department, an emergency department, complete medical and surgical capabilities and imaging and lab services.
“We’re in the best position we’ve ever been,” Barton Malow Builders’ COO Todd Ketola says of the company’s standing in the Southeast construction market. And judging by Barton Malow’s 2022 performance in the region, that sentiment seems well justified.
With major projects in Charlotte and Nashville, the contractor more than tripled its revenue in the Southeast region year-over-year as it continues to grow, focusing on safety, sustainability and its people.
