McCarthy Building Cos. completed construction of the $92-million, 1,000-ft-long Port Houston – Bayport Wharf 6 this summer.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. is working on the first segment of the 3.5 year project. 

The project will widen part of the channel from 530 ft to 700 ft and take dredged material to create an island bird habitat.
