Investment in 26 transmission projects would accommodate an added 85 GW of generating capacity to meet state load growth and greenhouse gas reduction goals by 2035, state grid operator CAISO said. 

The 45 projects identified by CAISO are needed to handle increased demand driven by the state's ambitious clean energy development initatives.

Operator of most of the state grid announced March 17 a 10-year transmission upgrade plan, specifying 23 projects to accommodate a big boost in planned carbon-free power.
