Originally built in the 1940s, two pedestrian access bridges at the southern entrance of the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater had reached the end of their service life.
To improve accessibility and minimize flood risk in San Marcos Creek’s alluvial plain as well as preserve creek habitat and improve the ability to traverse the area, this $72.5-million project included construction of two new bridges at Via Vera Cruz and Bent Avenue, along with sidewalks and bike lanes.
This freeway expansion project added a third travel lane in each direction along an eight-mile section of the toll road between Quincy Avenue and Interstate 70.
