Scope of work on this $8.6-million bridge rehabilitation included replacing the two existing Platte Avenue bridges over Sand Creek with a single bridge and adding sidewalks along the north and south sides of the street over the creek.
The city of Fountain wanted safer connectivity and traffic progression in a fast-growing part of town. As ground zero for a planned major residential development, the area also is a main route for both the school system and provides the only access to the regional landfill.
This design-build highway project improved the efficiency of the Bangerter Highway and Redwood Road corridors while delivering long-term value to the community.
