A notoriously slow Southern Nevada interchange has the ironic distinction of being a neighbor to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The final phase of the $300-million project will build out the remaining three ramps to finish the interchange that first started construction in 2015.

Crews have begun hauling a 2.4-million-lb decommissioned reactor pressure vessel across the state of Nevada using mostly two-lane roads.

CONEXPO 2017 was set in fast-growing Las Vegas, where the Nevada Dept. of Transportation, 100 years old this year, “has $3 billion in road projects underway in Clark County alone,” said Tony Illia, NDOT public information officer.
