With nearly 800 million gallons of combined sewer overflows discharged annually from Lick Run, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati sought a creative solution that would reduce CSO and greatly improve water quality of Lick Run, Mill Creek and the Ohio River.

The $90-million rehabilitation of Longwood Gardens’ Main Fountain Garden addressed chronic mechanical problems, aging infrastructure and limited visitor access while restoring the garden’s 1930s architectural character.

The Dallas Zoo’s $10-million, 2.2-acre African waterhole habitat is now home to two large Nile hippopotamuses, Red River hogs and an okapi herd.
