13. Central Washington Hospital

This expansion project adds 188,000 sq ft of space within a five-story tower, adding 35 beds to make the capacity 174 beds. Features include conference rooms, outpatient facilities, nursery, labor and delivery on the 2nd level, critical care units on level 3 and medical and surgical rooms rounding out the top two levels. Crews are also extending the central utility plant. Plans call for a second phase to begin after phase one’s completion, including front lobby remodel and a 22-bed medical-surgical unit.

The project includes a modernization of the existing Chief Sealth High School, originally built in 1956, and new construction of Denny International Middle School. The two schools total 363,708 sq ft and share a joining commons area. Significant structural, seismic, site development, civil and landscape upgrades are being made to Chief Sealth. The Seattle School District planned for a “holistic” education approach with an outdoor classroom and an outdoor wetland restoration classroom. A large green roof system is being constructed on Denny International. Other additions include a new synthetic field turf facility and smart-board integration in the classrooms.

This 13-level, LEED-silver project in Bellevue contains four levels of post-tensioned underground and partially below-grade parking plus two levels of above-grade parking, topped by seven stories of structural steel-framed medical office building space. Built directly adjacent to the main hospital entry, the project will provide 205,409 sq ft of medical office space. Two existing buildings were demolished at the beginning of the project.
