California The San Luis Obispo County board of supervisors has given preliminary approval to the county's Public Works Dept. to begin planning the construction of a 7-mile-long emergency water pipeline. The pipeline will carry as much as 1,000 acre-ft a year, or 893,000 gallons a day, of desalinated water from the Diablo Canyon nuclear powerplant to Avila Beach, where it will be fed into the Lopez Lake water distribution system in Port San Luis. Florida PRH 4000 South Ocean LLC, a joint venture comprising the Related Group, 13th Floor Investments and Key International, is proposing to build the Hyde Beach House hotel and condominium project at 4000 S. Ocean Blvd. in Hollywood. The 42-story, 679,918-sq-ft building would contain 265 hotel condo units, 77 residential condo units and an 868-space parking garage. New Mexico The U.S. General Services Administration is planning to renovate and expand the Columbus Land Port of Entry facility. Utah Salt Lake City's Housing & Neighborhood Development office is planning to convert the city's former public-safety headquarters into a mixed-income housing complex within three years. North Carolina Caddell Construction Co. has been awarded a $40.9-million contract to construct a new aerial gunnery range at Fort Bragg. Virginia Westmoreland Corp., a developer, has started construction on the first phase of Huntington Pointe, a 2,500-unit New Urbanism housing development on a 224-acre site in Denbigh.
