Millis Development & Construction Inc. completed construction of the 160-acre, 2.3-mile-long Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston in October. The $58-million, landscaped flood-control project, master-planned and designed by the Houston office of landscape architect-urban planner SWA, is part of a bigger Buffalo Bayou remediation project, which is transforming a polluted stormwater channel and its surroundings from an urban eyesore into public space. Properly built, storm channels can be parks for most of the year, says SWA.
