Diana Mendes, HNTB Corp.’s president of infrastructure and mobility equity, received the Rosa Parks Diversity in Leadership Award from the Washington, D.C., chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar. The award celebrates those who facilitate professional opportunities for women and minorities and make significant contributions in promoting diversity, inclusion and multicultural awareness within their organizations and the transportation industry.
Columbia, Md.-based Harkins Builders Inc. has promoted Ben Nichols to president, in anticipation of current CEO Gary Garofalo’s and current Chief Operating Officer Larry Kraemer’s upcoming retirements. Nichols will assume the role of CEO in 2024. Nichols joined the firm in 2016 as a project executive of the government group after working for Allen + Shariff Corp. He was promoted to vice president in 2020 and began overseeing the commercial group and human resources department the following year. Before entering the civilian world, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the Marine Corps as a combat engineer officer.
Rockville, Md.-based Grunley Construction Co., named Sonya Brown senior vice president, marketing and business development. She previously served as vice president, marketing and business development. Other executive leadership changes include the promotion of Chris Hightower to vice president of field operations, and the promotions of Bill Six and Mike Stigliano to vice presidents of operations. Darius Helton was promoted to contract executive; Erik Carlson was promoted to director of estimating; Will McDonald was promoted to director of safety; and Carrie Lieberman was promoted to director of small business programs and compliance.
Lancaster, Pa.-based Wohlsen has hired Bryan Niles as director of preconstruction, senior living. Previously, Niles worked as a preconstruction manager at Davis Construction.
Paul Delphos has joined Burns & McDonnell as water group manager for the MidAtlantic region. Based in Norfolk-Hampton Roads, Va., Delphos previously worked as an executive manager-water for AH Environmental Consultants. Before that, he was a senior water program manager at AECOM. Delphos also was recently named the American Water Works Association Director for Virginia. He previously has consulted on water-related issues with the White House Office of Science and Technology.
Architecture and design firm //3877 has hired Beth Brenner in Washington, D.C. She had been a junior interior designer at Baskervill. Brenner has a background in hotel interior design and is familiar with ADA requirements, matrix quantities, value engineering products, customizations and consultant collaboration.
Barton Malow Builders has named Willie Harris and James Miller as project executives in the firm’s Richmond and Charlottesville, Va., offices. Harris and Miller both had been senior project managers.
Precis Engineering Inc., an MEP engineering firm headquartered in Ambler, Pa., has hired Tim Lisle as director of process architecture. Lisle had been a partner at Jacobs/Wyper Architects.
McGuireWoods, a real estate/construction litigation firm, has hired Michael Dingman as a partner in the firm’s Tysons, Va., office. He had been a partner at Reed Smith.
