The Denver Broncos National Football League franchise is preparing to start construction on a $175-million training facility and headquarters, a planned 205,000-sq-ft, three-story building that would replace an existing training center built in 1990 on the same 26-acre campus in Englewood, Colo., according to the team.

The new facility would unite spaces for players, football operations and business operations under one roof, according to the Broncos. Set to be 30% larger than the existing training center and also feature an underground parking level, the facility would finish in time for the 2026 football season, the team said.

Turner Construction is the contractor, according to a company representative.

Designed by HOK and Rockwell Group, it would feature “a modern Colorado design,” Greg Penner, Broncos owner and CEO, said in a statement. “While we considered several options to modify our current facility, we decided to do this the right way by building a new player-centered headquarters with an efficient layout and the latest amenities,” he said.

Broncos representatives did not immediately respond to inquiries about contracting for the project.

The new building would connect to the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse, a 115,000-sq-ft indoor practice facility completed by Saunders Construction Inc. in 2014.

The Broncos team had initially planned to start construction this past spring but decided to delay the start until after the NFL preseason so fans could still watch training camp sessions from a berm beside the fields, it said. The new facility will be located where that berm is now. After construction is complete, the current building will be demolished, with a new berm built.

The project comes after the Broncos team finished a $100-million upgrade project last year at its stadium, Empower Field at Mile High.
