Anthony Walton
Project Executive
DPR Construction
Houston contractors should see plenty of opportunities moving forward, says Walton, who notes the hospitality, health care and energy markets are especially active.
He says that “gains in all key metrics” in the hospitality market—including for such upcoming events as the 2026 FIFA World Cup—are prompting “refresh projects for many existing hotels as well as new construction that will add thousands of keys to the metro area.”
Additionally, Walton sees “consistent growth in the health care segment in terms of newly constructed hospitals, medical office buildings, micro-hospitals and operating room interior build-outs.” This includes projects at the Texas Medical Center—which is recognized as the world’s largest medical center—along with activity in the Cypress, Sugar Land and Tomball communities.
Mission-critical projects represent another healthy market, he says, with the area’s vast amount of available land and talented workforce “causing advanced manufacturing companies to not only consider building in Houston, but to take the steps to move forward with numerous ground-up and renovation projects.”
