The project's program included efforts to sequence and stage building work to allow passenger vehicle and bus traffic to access each terminal throughout the $209-million, four-year project. About 700 ft of steel girder viaduct structure at the departures level and 700 ft of roadway at the arrivals level create a dedicated authorized-vehicles-only connection between Terminal B and Terminal C at both levels.

A single-span steel girder bridge was installed using accelerated bridge construction techniques while a 1,600-ft underpass and roadways were constructed at the arrivals level to create the permanent entrance into Terminal B.

Existing vertical and horizontal constraints set by the existing infrastructure and ongoing adjacent capital projects left the team working between two active terminal buildings and two parking garages. Members also worked between, over and under active elevated roadway structures and pedestrian bridges.

The team also connected to tie-in locations constructed by adjacent capital projects on three sides of the project limit.

The overall program was completed on schedule and $900,000 under budget despite several unforeseen challenges with subsurface conditions.
