The project completely renovated Wheeler Machinery's 45,000-sq-ft office building. Before the renovation, the 30-year-old structure was a dark, unrecognizable box and lacked a visual connection to the company's stability, strength and capabilities, says the submitter. Hughes General Contractors worked closely with Richardson Design Partnership to give the once bland and boring structure an upscale industrial feel. Bold concrete elements were added to the building's exterior. Inside, the design creates a welcoming, open feeling, says the team. The Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatre is a new anchor for the redevelopment of the Valley Fair Mall. The project features 15 state-of-the-art, fully digital theaters, including one that is 3D IMAX. Two theaters include "D-Box" seating for a 4D entertainment experience. The theaters can seat up to 4,300 people. The theater addition also includes an expanded food court for a dine-in movie experience with seating for 120 people.
