In a massive effort to revitalize 22 acres of downtown Long Beach, the city and the Port of Long Beach took an innovative path to meet the area’s ambitious development goals with the Long Beach Civic Center, ENR’s 2020 Project of the Year for Southern California.
For this project, crews constructed a 30-ft-deep, below-grade pump station with three 21-million-gallons-per-day (MGD) medium-voltage pumping units and a 3-MW emergency generator.
Built for a new planned community, this fire station includes three deep bays for trucks, administrative offices and living areas that include a fitness room, kitchen, day room, restrooms and outdoor patios.
Located in the middle of Culver City’s creative district, this three-acre development incorporates 75,000 sq ft of office space, 40,000 sq ft of retail shops and restaurants, a nearly one-acre public plaza and two levels of underground parking.
