ENR Midwest recently announced the category winners for its Best Projects competition that honors the best in design and construction in eleven Midwestern states.
From the previously announced main category winners, judges also selected their top picks for consideration for Project of the Year, spotlighted below.
The finalists are:
National Bio and Agro Defense Facility, located in Manhattan, Kans.

This year’s ENR Midwest judges included:
- Angelo Arzano, senior principal, HOK, St. Louis
- Danielle Dy Buncio, founder and CEO of VIATechnik
- Marc Hanson, senior director, construction operations, CRB Group
- Lynda Leigh, development manager, CedarSt Companies
- Brandon Maurisak, transit and rail project manager, HNTB
- Steven Zimmerman, JTC director, associate principal, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.
- Sam Mishelow, director of client development, Meyer Najem
- Jill Katic, director of lean evolution + knowledge management and sustainability community leader, Barton Malow Holdings
Judges did not vote in any categories in which their firms had an entry or had any involvement with a project submitted.
