ENR’s editors have selected Boston Properties Inc. as ENR MidAtlantic's Owner of the Year.
Owners of the Year are chosen for their innovation and creativity throughout the region as well as their contributions to their community. The last seven MidAtlantic winners include the Penn Med, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, DelDott, Douglas Development, PennDOT, DC Public Schools and DC Water.
The largest publicly-held developer and owner of Class A office properties in the United States, Boston Properties Inc. is a fully integrated real estate company organized as a real estate investment trust that develops, manages, operates, acquires and owns a diverse portfolio of properties.
Boston Properties recently inked a number of high-profile deals in the Washington, D.C. area, including deals to house the North American headquarters for Volkswagen Group of America and Fannie Mae in an expansion of the current Reston Town Center. The $1.1-million sq ft project currently under construction is expected to finish next year. Microsoft recently signed a new lease is in a building within the current Reston Town Center.
Additionally, Boston Properties is building the new Marriott International Headquarters in downtown Bethesda. The project will feature 785,000 sf of office space and a 244-room hotel.
Boston Properties is also active in the community. For example, as part of the ongoing 2100 Penn project, the firm led and personally financed the redevelopment of two local parks that had been neglected for years.
