Parametrix has been selected as ENR Northwest’s Design Firm of the Year for 2024.
The 50-year-old firm is one of the largest design firms operating in the Northwest region with a strong project list attesting to its leadership role. After a post-pandemic slowdown Parametrix came back with a roar last year tallying $142.1 million in revenue for 2023, a surge of more than 30 percent over the year prior.
The Northwest market has grown substantially due to capturing additional market share in the growing transportation, water, and environmental markets.
Key projects the firm has worked on in recent years include:
Interstate Bridge Replacement (IBR), Vancouver, Wash. to Portland, Ore.
IBR is one of Parametrix’s largest projects (in partnership with WSP and a very large consultant team). It is a multi-year program for the Washington and Oregon Departments of Transportation that will replace the aging Interstate Bridge and extend light rail and a multi-use trail across the Columbia River.
Olympic Region Fish Passage Design, WSDOT
Parametrix is leading a multidisciplinary team to remove 24 fish passage barriers in six counties in WSDOT’s Olympic Region. This was one of the first projects that WSDOT undertook per a federal court injunction requiring them to remove state-owned culverts that block habitat for salmon and steelhead by 2030.
Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge, Multnomah County
Parametrix is providing engineering and environmental services to Multnomah County for the Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge replacement project. As the lead subconsultant on the project, Parametrix has led the Planning and Environmental Linkages strategy, NEPA compliance, environmental management, traffic modeling and roadway engineering
The company has developed a diversity and inclusion program which has been in effect since 2019 and the company has hired a Director of DEI as well. The northwest region program is the first of a planned framework across the entire company.
Among the community outreach programs the firm sponsors the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship that helps low- and middle-income Washington students earn degrees. They also work with Sunshine Division a local nonprofit that serves over 20,000 households per year in the Portland metro area.
