The Projects

For a dozen years, ENR’s Global Best Projects Awards has enlisted industry experts to review a broad pool of entries from around the world.

This year, the jury selected 35 winning projects located in 19 different countries among 120 submissions. These exemplary projects demonstrate risks and rewards—and hurdles overcome—in designing and building internationally.

While some of these projects have been written about before in the pages of ENR, most are being highlighted for the first time. Reviewing entries in many market sectors, the judges examined design and construction challenges, benefits to local communities and the industry, as well as dedication to quality, innovation and safety.

A special emphasis was placed on teamwork and collaboration. For Project of the Year finalists, judges and ENR editors chose three intriguing entries, with one, China’s Dalian Bay Undersea Tunnel, receiving the top award.
